1. See tribute to The Beatles

2. Watch Ombra

What: Theatre play about human bonds

The Opera Ballet Vlaanderen presents Ombra by choreographer Alain Platel, alongside the Luxembourg Philharmonic, exploring human connections and emotions set under the boughs of a majestic tree. Inspired by Händel's aria Ombra mai fu – "Never was a shade of a tree so lovely...", the tree becomes a special gathering place.

3. Twirl with the 'whirling dervishes' from Damascus

What: Middle eastern traditions
Where: Philharmonie, 1 Pl. de l'Europe, 1499 Luxembourg
When: Friday, 17 January at 7.30pm - info & tickets

Known in Europe as "whirling dervishes", the group from Damascus will be accompanied on the stage of the Philharmonie's Grand Auditorium by the musicians of the Al-Kindi Ensemble, a veritable conservatory of Syrian and Turkish Sufi musical traditions. A dizzying show, in every sense of the word.

4. Tour the Bock Casemates

What: Iconic site of Luxembourg
Where: Montée de Clausen, 1343 Luxembourg
When: Saturday, 18 January at 2.30pm - more info here

Listed as a UNESCO World HeritageSite, these underground tunnels carved into the rock bear witness to the fortress city's turbulent past. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the lower town through the many openings and loopholes. Tours are every Saturday and start at 2.30pm.

5. Watch Conclave

6. Fly the magic carpet with Aladdin

Magic, elegant costumes and a fantasy backdrop come together in this 1992 Disney stage adaptation of Aladdin at Trifolion. It's perfect for the whole family. Note that the spoken language is German, with two shows at 11am and 3pm.

7. Immersive yourself in the world of Pleasing

What: Rock show with art gallery

Alternative rock band Pleasing are hosting a multidisciplinary show at Kulturfabrik that invites the audience to wander their art gallery corridor, watch a theatre piece performed before the concert, as well as the show itself.
