1. Hear rockers Delivery

Confined to close quarters during the longest lockdown in the world, a couple – who happen to be musicians – have all the time in the world and nowhere to go. As it turns out, Melbourne's cautious approach to a global pandemic was the catalyst for Delivery – one of the most brilliant and forceful rock'n'roll bands to emerge from the southern hemisphere in years.
2. Head to Schueberfouer

Luxembourg's favourite funfair, the Schueberfouer, opens its doors on Friday at 5pm with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mayor Lydie Polfer at entry gate E1. Families can watch the official ceremony and soak up the first sights, sounds and rides of the fairground. Later in the evening, the traditional Ham a Kuch adds a festive touch to mark the start of three weeks of fun for all ages.

3. Listen to cross-border music gigs
What: Free performances at the municipal park

On Saturday, the Quattropole Session brings cross-border sounds to the Parc Municipal Édouard André. Starting at 3.30pm with free entry, the annual event unites musicians from Luxembourg, Trier, Metz, and Saarbrücken, highlighting the region's vibrant cultural exchange. Audiences can look forward to performances by Groove Supply, NuTone Quartett, Ninon, and Romain Muller in a celebration of music without borders.

4. Learn about deported women from Luxembourg during WWII
What: Resistance, repression, and deportation

Soon coming to an end, the National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights in Esch-sur-Alzette hosts the travelling exhibition "Resistance. Repression. Deportation. Women from France and Luxembourg in the Ravensbrück Concentration Camp, 1942–1945". Through selected biographies, it sheds light on the lives of some 7,000 women deported for political reasons, highlighting their diverse backgrounds, their roles in resistance, and their experiences of persecution and survival. The exhibition is presented in French and German and runs until 15 September.

5. Watch free open air films in Esch
What: Sunset Cinema

Sunset Cinema continues for another weekend of free film screenings in the open, with the schedule including The Fifth Element, Mamma Mia, Ratatouille, and The Big Lebowski. Make your way early to Parc Gaalgebierg!

6. See firefighters in action

Catch all the action at the 8th Firefighter Beach Challenge, hosted by Amicale CIS Junglinster, on Saturday morning. Watch teams battle it out on the sand for the trophy and other fun prizes in this lively and entertaining – but especially impressive – event.

7. Learn about bees on a guided tour
What: Habitats, behaviour and more

Discover the fascinating world of bees on a guided bee trail tour in Luxembourg City. Learn about their habitats, behaviour, and why these tiny insects are vital for all life, with expert guidance along the way. The free tour starts at the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (Place Guillaume II) and ends at the Grund elevator tunnel entrance – places are limited to eight participants, so registration is required at environnement@vdl.lu or by phone at 4796-4773.
