After 23 years in the business, the Madden twins are currently in the middle of their Generation Rx tour to promote their 7th album. Good Charlotte are very aware of what their fan base wants to see and hear during their gigs, which is why singer Joel Madden said right at the beginning of Friday’s Rockhal concert: “We’ll sing plenty of songs, newer ones as well as the classics!”
Good Charlotte stayed true to their word and fans were ecstatic, many with their phones in the air to capture every moment.
As you might have noticed, we don’t have any photos of the Good Charlotte concert to show you. This has several reasons, all linked to the contract the band’s management team asked the press to sign.
The contract stipulated that all credited photographers cede their image rights to Good Charlotte and the band’s management. The band would then be able to have free use of the photographs, without having to pay anything for them. They would be able to use the images in marketing, on social media and on other internet sites across the world.
This is not new: Image rights are becoming an increasingly embattled field between artists and their management and the press. RTL, like many other Luxembourgish media outlets, decided to boycott the concert, believing that the visual choices made by the press belong to press photographers and the editorial team.
To see pictures from the Good Charlotte concert at Rockhal, you can simply look up Instagram photos taken by fans, over which Good Charlotte’s management has no control.
