Many people chose to profit from the event to tour the new facilities and building, which opened its doors to the public for the first time on Tuesday. There was much to explore, ranging from 200,000 accessible books in the new reading space, conference rooms and a 24,000 square metre atrium.

2,000 visitors were counted before 2pm, with more than 400 new registered users - excellent figures for the library.
All Luxembourg publications have been kept and exhibited in the library. The most success in the first few hours of the open day was had by the children's section. The BNL were delighted with the reaction, but also expressed pleasure at the visitors exploring other areas of the library.
As well as viewing the library itself, behind the scenes tours were also on offer throughout the open day. Only a portion of publications are actually on display, while the rest are stocked at controlled temperatures of 18 degrees and available on demand.
The open day will continue on Sunday until 6pm.
