From 21 October, an Etihad aircraft will depart from Luxembourg for Abu Dhabi four times a week. Flights will leave Luxembourg Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at around 9.30am, arriving at Zayed International Airport at around 7pm.

The route will be operated using brand-new Airbus A321 aircraft, each with 160 seats.

Etihad is convinced there is strong demand for such a connection. According to Antonio Panariello, the airline's Commercial Director for Europe, Luxembourg offers significant potential.

In addition to passengers from the Greater Region, the airline also expects visitors from the Emirates who want to discover the Grand Duchy, Panariello explained.

Stopover destination

Abu Dhabi is not only a holiday destination. Its airport is also an important hub for onward travel to Asia, Africa, or Australia.

Passengers will also be able to include a stopover in Abu Dhabi, choosing to stay there for a few days before continuing to another destination. According to Panariello, Etihad offers numerous connections to Thailand, including Bangkok and Phuket, as well as routes to Chiang Mai and Krabi, which were launched last year. Panariello also noted that its wider network also includes Australia.

The airline is also continuing to focus on growth. From autumn, five new routes in China and six further destinations in Africa are set to be added. Today, its fleet consists of just over 120 aircraft. In the coming years, Etihad aims to roughly double its fleet to around 250 aircraft.

To present the new connection, the airline transformed a café in the city into an Etihad lounge on Monday, giving interested customers a first impression of the new offer.
