A major crash occurred at the Saarland Trofeo, an international junior cycling race, on Sunday after an elderly spectator crossed directly into the peloton with his mobility scooter. Among those affected was Luxembourg cyclist Maximilien Outlet.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the man moving from the side into the path of the oncoming riders. While one cyclist managed to swerve out of the way, Outlet – who was riding directly behind – had no time to react. He struck the man at full speed and was thrown over his handlebars.

Fortunately, Outlet sustained only minor injuries and bruising, according to junior national coach Heiko Lehmann after the race.

Five other Luxembourgish cyclists also took part in the event: Ben Koenig, Thijs Koenig, Loïc Gouveia, Dave Cichy, and Hugo Lambert. With the exception of Outlet and Lambert, who did not appear in the final classification, the remaining four young Luxembourgers finished in the middle of the pack out of a total of 142 riders.
