Carnival seasonPétange and Remich joyfully celebrate traditional cavalcades on Sunday
As per tradition, this Sunday saw the two last cavalcades of Luxembourg's annual carnival season, and our photographers were on the scene to catch the best moments for you.
Cavalcade in Pétange
On Sunday, Pétange celebrated the 67th edition of its annual cavalcade.
The first Pétange cavalcade took place all the way back in 1955, making it the oldest in the Grand-Duchy
More than a thousand participants brought this year’s parade to life with 23 animated floats, seven musical groups, and 26 folk groups.

Cavalcade in Remich
Every year in the middle of Lent, known as ‘Halleffaaschten’ in Luxembourgish, the famous Remich carnival cavalcade takes place. The parade transforms the streets of the border town into a huge festival with music, food, drinks and, of course, entertainment provided by parade groups dressed as animals and creatures in various colours, marching towards the riverbanks of the Moselle.
