The incident took place on Friday afternoon on the outskirts of the capital, near the junction of Route d’Arlon and Rue de Reckenthal. At approximately 4.30pm, a motorist collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road at a designated pedestrian crossing while walking their dogs.
Authorities report that the pedestrian was crossing the road with a green light signal. The driver, travelling from Rue de Reckenthal, failed to notice the pedestrian on the road.
While the pedestrian sustained minor injuries in the collision, one of their dogs succumbed to its injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, the driver underwent an alcohol test which confirmed that they were inebriated. As a result, their driving licence was revoked.
