On Thursday and Friday, Luxembourg will take part in the cross-border Cattenom 2026 exercise, with four structures active on the Luxembourg side, the government has shared.

The four bodies in question will be:

  • the Radiological Assessment Cell (CER), responsible for technical analysis of the situation;
  • the Crisis Cell (CC), convened at the National Crisis Centre (HCPN) to coordinate decisions;
  • the Communication and Information Cell (CCI), responsible for informing the public and ensuring message consistency;
  • a liaison officer deployed in Metz to facilitate communication with the French authorities.

The LU Alert system will not be tested during the exercise. The Communication and Information Cell will draft messages, but these will not be sent out to the general public. France's FR Alert system, however, will be tested. As a result, people near the border may receive the test message coming from the French side.
