The much-anticipated day has finally arrived. This Saturday Luxembourg has become the first country in the world to offer free public transport.
The Ministry of Transport explained on numerous occasions that the historic move was designed to help less-well-off workers and reduce road traffic. The concept has, however, also drawn a fair share of criticism with opponents arguing that the decision was premature and that Luxembourg should first focus on improving its existing public transport networks.
We wanted to know what Luxembourg’s residents, non-residents, tourists, and politicians think about the groundbreaking decision and strolled around the city to get some answers. Any guesses what the favourite mode of transport of Luxembourg’s Minister for Mobility is? Time to find out.
