The petition demanded that a number of dog breeds be removed from the list of dangerous breeds. The petition gathered more than 4,800 signatures.
Last week, the petitioners were invited to Luxembourg's parliament to present their demands to members of parliament.
The "American Staffordshire Terrier" is currently still on the list of dangerous dog breeds in Luxembourg, but according to the petitioners, a dog's behaviour is all due to its upbringing. Owners of this breed need to take a dog license exam and their American Staffordshire Terriers also need to pass a number of tests.
Apart from the American Staffordshire, the "Staffordshire Bull Terrier", the "Mastiff" and the "Tosa" are also on the list of dangerous dog breeds.
The petitioners regard as unfair the current law, which has been in existence for almost 10 years.
