Police and social services are attempting to locate a homeless man after his image, pushing a shopping trolley along a national road in northern Luxembourg, circulated widely on social media.

A homeless man pushing a shopping trolley along the N12 in Fond de Heiderscheid has been the subject of multiple social media posts in recent days, prompting a response from local authorities.

According to the police press office, the individual has been reported to them several times over the past week, with sightings first near Redange and more recently in the Wiltz area. The police confirmed that a patrol had stopped and identified the man, establishing that he is homeless.

Following this contact, officers coordinated with an aid organisation to provide him with assistance. Personnel from the organisation, which the police did not name, travelled to Wiltz on Tuesday morning but were unable to locate him.

An RTL team also encountered the man in Wiltz on Tuesday, but he declined to speak with journalists. The aid organisation will continue efforts to make contact and offer support in the coming days.
