Police issued a significant number of fines for speeding, illegal parking, and mobile phone use during a targeted traffic control operation in the Cessange and Gasperich neighbourhoods on Tuesday.

A series of police checks conducted on Tuesday in Cessange and Gasperich resulted in numerous fines for a range of traffic offences, with a particular focus on speeding, illegal parking, and mobile phone use while driving.

The operation began in the "Kuelebierg" area of Cessange, where 15 motorists were fined €49 each for speeding. On Rue d'Esch, six drivers faced steeper penalties of €250 and a four-point deduction on their licences for using a mobile phone at the wheel. At the same location, three drivers were unable to present valid documents, and one was fined €24 for unlawful parking.

Further checks on Rue Isaac Newton, Rue Gerhard Mercator, and Rue Leonardo da Vinci targeted parking infractions. Authorities issued nine €24 fines for illegal parking, five €49 fines for obstructing traffic, and three €49 fines for parking on the pavement.

Speed enforcement on Rue Benjamin Franklin caught two drivers exceeding the limit by 15 km/h, resulting in a €145 fine and a two-point loss for each. A similar operation on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer led to nine speeding fines of €145 and two points, with one driver receiving a harsher penalty. Two motorists were also fined €250 and lost four points for using a mobile phone.

Across the two neighbourhoods, police issued six additional fines for mobile phone use, cited two drivers for lacking valid documents, and fined one motorist €145 with a two-point deduction for not wearing a seatbelt.
