The ultra-distance cyclist has been toying with the idea for quite some time and announced his plans to commit to the attempt on 11 and 12 July.

Ralph "Dizzy" Diseviscourt announced on Thursday via social media that he would attempt to break the world record for the longest distance cycled within 24 hours. The athlete has decided to conduct his attempt around the barrier lake in Vianden.

The current world record for the longest distance cycled outside was set by the Australian Mich Anderson in 2018, who completed 894.349 km within 24 hours.

Dizzy, who was born in Wiltz, had initially planned to compete in this year's edition of the Red Bull Trans Siberian Extreme Race, but the event had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.
