Starting with Luxembourg

  • The latest figures from Luxembourg show that 160 new cases of coronavirus were discovered over the last 24 hours.

  • The Horesca sector is preparing itself for the new Covid law, to be announced on Friday at 2.30pm, which could see a move to a more generalised CovidCheck system.

  • Last week, 591 new cases were discovered, an increase of 0.2% compared to the previous week. The number of confirmed contacts grew from 2,421 to 2,827 over the course of seven days.

  • A new vaccination campaign is set to launch for pupils in secondary schools.

  • The first Covid cluster for the autumn term has been found in a primary school in Clervaux.

  • US drugmaker Pfizer said Thursday it has formally requested emergency use authorization for its Covid-19 vaccine in children age five to 11.

  • Australia’s largest city will emerge from a 106-day lockdown on Monday, as Sydney authorities confirmed coronavirus vaccination targets had been met.

  • From 2022, Belgian cross-border workers will be entitled to 34 days working from home. Now, 19 elected officials from France’s Grand Est region are pushing to add a further 18 days for employees working from home.

  • The novel coronavirus has killed at least 4,822,267 people since the outbreak emerged in China in December 2019, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP at 1000 GMT on Thursday.

  • US pharmaceutical giant Moderna announced Thursday it would build a plant in Africa, as pressure mounts on drugmakers to help ramp up Covid-19 vaccine production in areas that have received fewer doses.

  • A delivery of Covid vaccines has arrived in Antarctica to inoculate British researchers stationed in the polar wilderness, the UK foreign ministry said Thursday.

  • Indonesia expanded its COVID-19 vaccination program of refugees in the capital Jakarta on Thursday (October 7), aiming to vaccinate 700 a day, with help from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
