The national weather service MétéoLux has issued a series of yellow alerts covering both high temperatures and the risk of severe weather this weekend.

On Saturday, temperatures are expected to soar to between 30°C and 32°C across most of the country. As a result, a yellow heat alert remains in effect until 9 p.m. this evening.

However, conditions may take a turn later tonight. From midnight until Sunday morning at 10am, a second yellow alert is in place due to the risk of thunderstorms. MétéoLux warns of heavy rainfall ranging from 20 to 30 litres per square metre, strong gusts of wind up to 80 km/h, and the possibility of hail in some areas.

Thunderstorms may already begin to develop during the course of Saturday, with the situation expected to deteriorate further overnight. A drop in temperatures is forecast for Sunday, bringing some relief after the heat.
