Dany Freire, a former Luxembourg youth international, is on the verge of joining FC Barcelona after impressing in recent weeks with the club’s youth teams. The highly rated midfielder, who turned 16 today, previously played for Racing Luxembourg and Fola Esch, and has represented several Luxembourg national youth teams. However, since May 2025, Freire has been playing for the Portuguese Under-15 side.
The transfer could not be finalised until Freire's 16th birthday due to regulations, but with that milestone reached today, the move is now possible. Although the transfer has not yet been made official, Freire has already convinced Barcelona’s coaches during his trial period and is expected to sign with the Spanish club.
