Following Friday evening’s two singles defeats, Luxembourg’s Davis Cup tennis team returned to action on Saturday at the Coque for the doubles match against Hungary.
Alex Knaff teamed up with Raphael Calzi, who stepped in for the injured Chris Rodesch, but the pair were beaten by the Hungarians in straight sets, 1-6, 6-7. This third consecutive loss leaves Luxembourg trailing 0-3 in the tie, meaning they can no longer win the encounter. As a result, Hungary advances to the Davis Cup Qualifiers, and Luxembourg stays in World Group I.
For Alex Knaff, this match marked his final appearance for the Luxembourg Davis Cup team.
Although the overall result is already decided, one more singles match is currently being played. Luxembourg’s Matiej Reiter is facing off against Peter Makk of Hungary.
The match can be watched live on RTL Zwee, RTL Play, and rtl.lu.
