Biancalana was first asked about the recent accusations of plagiarism against Prime Minister Bettel. He reiterated his party’s position that the enquiry from the University of Lorraine needs to be concluded before LSAP can make a judgement, and that it will be the institution’s decision on how to handle the affair.
The main focus of tonight’s extraordinary LSAP congress will be the decision on a double leadership, conveyed Biancalana. The party intends to change its statutes so that their representation becomes more equal. When asked about the succession of Ministers Kersch and Schneider, Biancalana was unwilling to convey any party-internal plans at this moment in time.
Biancalana oversees the state budget for the upcoming year and explained that it is unlikely that any changes will be made to the report presented by Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna at the beginning of October. Biancalana believes that the plans are reflective of socialist values and coalition goals, and further argued in favour of keeping investments high.
