Spread across an area of 6,400 square metres, gamers can find everything from cosplay contests to board & retro games, manga, new technologies, food trucks and even meet special guests. One of the latter was Tom Wlaschiha, better known as 'Faceless Man' from the series Game of Thrones, who held an autograph and photo session on Saturday.

Not only e-athletes but also cosplay fans are getting their money's worth at the LGX; different video game characters can be found at the convention.

Visitors can test a varied number of video games and brand-new technologies, as well as get an insight into the Japanese manga culture.

It is a colourful and loud fair as the LGX grows bigger and busier every year. This growth is in large part thanks to the developing gaming scene in Luxembourg.

Joé Simon, production coordinator at the LGX, says that the fair is a must for every gamer. He adds that the fair's popularity is driven by Luxembourg's gaming popularity, with a special interest in Esport and Japanese culture.

In order to promote Esport in Luxembourg and to get it to a professional level,  organisations are needed where gamers can meet. Team Slick is one of them. Founded last year, they organise a FIFA-tournament at the LGX. Apart from a better structure, the founder of Team Slick, Yannick Raach, adds that tolerance plays an important role - it is frequently perceived that Esports are not real sports. The fair proves that thousands of people gather to play Esports. For Yannick Raach this shows that it should, in fact, be considered a sport.

Well-known Esport gamers include Diogo Santos, who has already won numerous FIFA tournaments. A lot of work and training goes into this, he explains, saying that he used to play two hours every day after school.

Living off Esports remains a tough cookie, as tournaments big enough to award winners large prizes are currently non-existant in the Grand Duchy. It is, however, possible to earn some pocket money: the winner of the FIFA tournament will receive €1,000. The final takes place today on Sunday.
