The goal of this service is to give terminally ill individuals the possibility to stay at home until their life comes to an end. CHdN is Luxembourg's only hospital to offer this service. There are around 40 new patients each year.

Veronique Karier is one of seven mobile nurses working for the mobile palliative care service. She for example looks after Mr. Michels, who has been suffering from an incurable for of cancer for
a year and a half. The 71-year-old is not losing his courage despite the unforgiving illness. He's happy that the palliative care service exists. His condition is not always the same but is better or worse depending on the day. The nurse visits Mr. Michels's home twice a week. Visits are more frequent if the patient is not feeling well.

The mobile palliative service looks after 3 to 4 patients each day. Over the last 20 years, around 800 terminally ill people benefitted from the service. A third of them were able to live at home until their death. The mobile team can also always request help from doctors, oncologist Frank Jakob stresses.
