A nightly disturbance escalated into a neighbour altercation in Eschweiler on Tuesday, prompting police to intervene and successfully defuse the noise-related dispute.

However, shortly afterwards, witnesses reported that the person responsible for the disturbance had also issued death threats during a confrontation with one neighbour.

A more thorough investigation revealed that police had already intervened at the same location the day before. On that occasion, the suspect had launched fireworks from their window and threatened and insulted other residents of the building.

At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and brought before the examining magistrate on Wednesday evening. The magistrate confirmed the arrest warrant. The investigation remains ongoing, and police emphasise that the presumption of innocence applies in this case.
