Now that the new government has been formed and the country has just rung in a new year, Prime Minister Bettel sat down with RTL journalist Caroline Mart on Tuesday.
Bettel's constituents were given the opportunity to send in their own questions to RTL.lu and the PM answered many of those question during the hour-long interview.
One of the questions that was sent in several times by viewers concerned the fact that politicians who weren't re-elected in the October election still ended up in the newly-formed government.
In response, Bettel replied that the October election was a parliamentary election and that the people had not been asked to vote on a government. Bettel stated that it was up to the individual parties to chose who would be part of the next government.
Viewers were also interested in hearing the PM's stance on family politics, as a lot of people criticise the apparent "one-sidedness" of current family policies that favour having two working parents and placing children with child care services from an early age.
Bettel stated that the government is working to counter this trend in expanding parental leave. On the other hand, he said that with as many as 50% of marriages ultimately ending in divorce, it is important for both parents to keep their independence in remaining close to the professional world.
Other interview topics included education, housing, taxes and Luxembourg's role in the EU. Some people wanted to know why the government has chosen to take the path of offering several services for free within the next couple of years, such as child care and public transport.
Viewers also wanted to know how exactly the government is planning to pay for all these newly "free" services.
The PM also talked about his personal experiences and motivation to head Luxembourg over the next five years.
