Emergency services were alerted to three cases of suspicious driving, which turned out to be alcohol-related, and carried out on-the-spot checks near Esch, resulting in 14 positive tests and the revocation of four licences.

On Saturday evening at around 7.45 pm, a motorist drove into the opposite lane in Diekirch and collided with another vehicle.

The driver at fault then fled the scene but later contacted the police to report the accident. Officers went to take his statement and administered a breathalyser test, which came back positive. As a result, his licence was immediately revoked.

On Sunday night, at approximately 1.15am, police in Bonnevoie stopped a driver who was driving erratically. Officers performed checks and discovered the driver did not hold a licence and was under the influence of alcohol, an incident report was submitted.

Also on Sunday, at around 4am, a security guard at a public parking garage in the City noticed an intoxicated woman walking to her car. CCTV footage later showed her crashing her vehicle into a pole. She admitted to police that she had consumed alcohol and was administered a driving ban.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, police also carried out two alcohol checks in the municipality of Esch, ordered by the prosecutor’s office. A total of 265 drivers were breathalysed, with 14 positive tests recorded, and four licences revoked on the spot.
