Numerous CGDIS teams were at the Kronospan site in Sanem's Gadderscheier industrial zone from 11pm on Saturday evening until Sunday morning, after a "complicated" conveyor belt fire broke out.

Police told RTL, on request, that the operation had dragged on because the fire was complicated to get under control. Emergency services from France were also called in to lend a hand.

According to the CGDIS report, the fire had broken out on a conveyor belt. Emergency teams turned out in force, including crews from the response centres in Sanem-Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Käerjeng, Pétange, Dudelange, Schifflange, Kahler, Tuntange, and Luxembourg City.

Specialist units were also on the scene, including the specialised intervention Group for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear substances (GCBRN), the Technical and Operational Support Group (GATO) and the Logistics Support Centre (CSL).

According to the report, no one was injured, a fact also confirmed by police on request. There was no serious danger at any point.
