PolicePedestrian severely injured after becoming stuck between two cars

The police have reported a number of accidents with critical injuries that occurred on Wednesday evening and appealed for witnesses for one of them.

At 6.30pm on Wednesday, a cyclist sustained critical injuries in an accident in Esch-sur-Alzette. A woman had parked her car but paid insufficient attention upon exiting it. She opened the door and hit a passing cyclist. The cyclist was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.

At the same time a pedestrian was seriously injured in an accident on Route d'Ellange in Mondorf-les-Bains. A motorist crashed into the car in front, which in turn caused the second car to knock into a third car. A pedestrian was between the second and third cars and was stuck between the cars when the collision occurred. The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The driver who caused the accident was found to have been driving under the influence. The police confiscated the driver's licence.

At 2.30pm on Wednesday, a woman was hit by a passing car on the CR135 by the entrance to the Givenich penitentiary centre. She fell and sustained light injuries as the driver fled the scene. The Echternach police station are seeking witnesses in order to identify the driver.
