TrafficLuxembourg's speed cameras have flashed nearly 800,000 times in three years

An additional 14 fixed speed cameras have since followed, adding up to 24 throughout the Grand Duchy. Six mobile cameras and one construction site camera are also operational.

According to Luxemburger Wort, who have quoted the numbers from the police, the cameras have flashed a of 798,000 times in three years — including 250,000 last year alone. Vehicles with Luxembourgish number plates are the most frequent offenders, on average.

As you may have heard, the mobile speed camera on the A4 towards Esch was in the news recently as it caught 5,000 drivers in just 48 hours.

A new speed camera which measures vehicle's  average speed between two points will most likely arrive in Luxembourg in autumn. First tests will take place on the A7 between Waldhof and Gonderange.

In addition, another fixed speed camera will be operational this year still, between Grosbous and Hierheck.
