Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious accident on the N12 in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred on a straight stretch of road lined with trees, between Derenbach and Feitsch.

For reasons yet to be determined, the driver of a light utility vehicle lost control, causing the pick-up to veer off the carriageway and crash head-on into a tree at the roadside.

Substantial emergency resources were deployed, with the Ettelbruck emergency medical service (SAMU), Clervaux ambulance, and fire and rescue teams from Winseler and Wincrange attending the scene.

While the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) initially reported that the man had been injured, police later confirmed that the 37-year-old driver had died as a result of the crash.
