The EU’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) alerted the Luxembourgish authorities of the high concentration of Ochratoxin A in a number of nut and dried fruit mixes, namely two Trader Joe’s nut mixes sold in Aldi in Luxembourg.
Ochratoxin A is a mould-producing mycotoxin (a fungal toxin) that can be found in a variety of products such as cereal, coffee, rice, and raisins and can have an adverse effect on health.
The French confections– called ‘mendiants’ – are sold at Luxembourg’s Aldi stores, and while they have been withdrawn from shelves, some of them have also already been sold.
For this reason, Luxembourg’s food safety authorities ask the public not to consume products with the following specifications.
