Homeless person severely hurt during incident at supermarket parking lot

The police confirmed to RTL this Friday that an altercation involving four individuals took place on Tuesday in the parking lot of the Lidl supermarket in Mersch. Initial reports had mentioned a fatality, prompting our colleagues at RTL Infos to contact the authorities to clarify the situation.

The officers dispatched to the scene found that the individuals involved were homeless and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Two of them were injured, one seriously. The latter was unconscious when emergency services arrived. He was rushed to the hospital, but his life is not in danger, the authorities confirmed.

Testimonies shared with the RTL Infos editorial team suggest that fire extinguishers may have been used to strike the victim, in a particularly violent incident. It should be noted that these details have not been confirmed by the Grand Ducal Police.
