In a blow to an organised criminal group, Luxembourg police arrested two individuals overnight and recovered stolen vehicles.

The police have arrested two suspects believed to be part of an international criminal group specialising in stealing SUVs, following an operation conducted during Monday night.

In a statement released on Tuesday, police confirmed they had been investigating the organised theft ring for several weeks. The breakthrough came through an in-depth analysis and what authorities described as "close and effective cooperation with foreign investigative authorities", which enabled the Serious Crime Unit to identify the alleged perpetrators.

In a coordinated effort involving the Luxembourg Public Prosecutor's Office and a police special unit, two stolen vehicles – a Porsche Macan and a Toyota RAV4 – were located and recovered in France.

The operation culminated in the overnight arrests of the two suspects in Luxembourg. Subsequent searches led to the seizure of several prefabricated fake number plates and electronic devices believed to have been used to carry out the thefts.
