On Monday, Luxembourg's police announced the launch of its winter prevention and road safety campaign.
The police will be keeping a close eye on motorists over the next three months with the announcement of their winter campaign of road checks and prevention measures.
Police patrols will carry out checks "across the country", focusing in particular on vehicle visibility and certain safety features such as tyres: According to the police, "poor visibility is a major factor in accidents, so increased vigilance is required" during this season, with expectations of bad weather.
The checks will take place "until the end of December 2025", the announcement states. A "preventive phase" will be carried out in advance of the campaign regarding vehicle lights, until 19 November.
If a vehicle's lights are not working, "the driver will not be automatically fined during the preventive phase" but will have five days to bring the vehicle into compliance. They will then have to go to a police station to prove that the necessary changes have been made. Failure to do so will result in a fine.
