According to recent statistics, the savings rate fell to 12.4% last year, less than half of what it was during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, when it reached 27%. The last time the rate was this low was in 2010.

On average, Luxembourgish residents hold savings of around €71,000 per capita, including children and the elderly.

In total, households have approximately €49 billion deposited in banks, according to figures provided by Ministers Delles and Roth in response to a parliamentary question from Democratic Party MP André Bauler.
