With the New Year just around the corner, it's time to plan ahead and turn bank holidays into extended weekends perfect for relaxation or adventure!

The year 2025 promises to be generous with holidays, offering plenty of opportunities for extended weekends without requiring much time off.

While February and March might not bring much excitement, there's no need to worry – April is just around the corner with its first surprise. Thanks to Easter Monday, employees can enjoy a three-day weekend without using any leave.

May is even more promising. By taking leave on the 2nd and 30th of May, employees can enjoy two four-day weekends and one three-day weekend, as 9 May is already a national holiday in Luxembourg.

June keeps the momentum going. With Whit Monday falling on 9 June, employees are in for an XL weekend spanning the 7 – 9 June.

Summer doesn’t disappoint either. The National Day holiday falls on a Monday, making it the perfect excuse to recover from the weekend’s festivities. In August, Assumption Day (15 August) lands on a Friday, meaning employees can look forward to another long weekend without taking any time off.

There is, however, one exception. All Saints’ Day (1 November) falls on a Saturday.

But the year ends on a high note. Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day (26 December) fall on a Thursday and Friday, and that means you will have a long weekend to recover from the festive celebrations.

And the good news doesn’t stop there. As 1 January 2026 lands on a Thursday, taking Friday off will let you start the year with a four-day holiday too!

All in all, by taking just 2 days off in 2025 and one in 2026, you can enjoy 27 days of rest, including extended weekends, and 4 additional days to welcome the New Year.
