Police responded to several weekend incidents across Luxembourg involving alcohol-related disturbances, including one case of domestic violence, and multiple drink-driving offences.

In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time police arrived, or the disturbance had ended. In some instances, officers were able to resolve matters directly on the spot.

However, there was also one case of domestic violence, for which the public prosecutor ordered a referral.

Around 6pm, a dispute broke out between two people in Luxembourg City. When a police patrol arrived at the Chemin de la Corniche, officers attempted to calm both individuals. One of them walked away but soon began shouting at and insulting pedestrians.

Due to his intoxicated state and the risk he posed to himself and others, the man was taken into custody after a medical examination.

Drink-driving incidents

On Saturday around 3.20pm, a patrol on Rue Emile Mark in Differdange noticed a vehicle swerving heavily from side to side. A traffic stop and subsequent breath test confirmed the driver had been drinking, and his licence was confiscated.

Shortly before 11pm, police were alerted to an accident at the roundabout near Reuler. The car was found off the road and, according to the police report, was no longer drivable. The driver was not injured but showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, confirmed by a breathalyser test. His licence was also withdrawn.

Early on Sunday morning, at around 6.20am, another patrol spotted a car weaving on the A13 towards Esch, nearly causing several accidents. A test again confirmed alcohol involvement. The driver was also found to be carrying a forged foreign driving licence. On the prosecutor's orders, both the licence and the vehicle were seized.
