As more and more parcels are processed every year, POST Luxembourg sees itself compelled to restructure its sorting procedures.

The holiday period is typically the busiest time of the year for employees at the POST Luxembourg sorting centre. On average, POST staff at this location process around 50,000 parcels every day during this period.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Saint Nicholas Day in particular are the three busiest days of the year for employees at POST's sorting centre. After a brief slump, the number of processed parcels tends to pick up again just before the end-of-year festivities.

The Bettembourg centre employs 200 people, who collectively work six days a week, 24 hours a day. On 28 November, a new record was set when workers processed 55,000 parcels in a single day, up from 44,000 in 2023. This increase is expected to continue and as a result, POST Luxembourg plans to restructure and further develop its parcel service. In 2024, the season started relatively early, with a marked increase in the number of parcels to be processed from the beginning of November.

POST recently gave some statistical insights into its services, revealing among other things that a typical household in Luxembourg uses about four stamps a year. Faced with the reality that the number of letters sent has fallen steadily in recent years, POST Luxembourg hopes to offset this decline with its parcel service.
