Starting 1 February 2025, POST Luxembourg will introduce a new pricing system, affecting both national and international parcel and letter rates.
POST Luxembourg announced on Tuesday that new rates will take effect starting 1 February 2025. While some services will become more expensive, others will see price reductions.
The adjustments to the rates for national and international parcels and letters are aimed at ensuring the long-term profitability of POST's services, according to the company's press release.
From 1 February, six geographical zones will be introduced, each with its own rates. In addition to Luxembourg, there will be five international zones.
Zone 1 will include Luxembourg's neighbouring countries, as well as the Netherlands and Portugal. Due to the high volume of parcels, this change will benefit consumers in certain cases, particularly for national e-commerce. For example, sending parcels weighing less than 2 kg to neighbouring countries, as well as to Portugal and the Netherlands, will be half the price it costs now.
However, sending parcels within Luxembourg will become more expensive. As of 1 February, parcels weighing up to 2 kg will cost €7.20 instead of €6. Sending larger packages within Luxembourg will increase from €12 to €22.
The price of letters will also rise. A standard letter, currently priced at €1, will increase to €1.20. Sending a letter to a European country will cost €1.70, up from €1.40, while the price for sending a letter to a third country will increase by 65 cents, to €2.40.
POST Luxembourg also revealed that, on average, each household in Luxembourg used only four stamps last year.
