The parliamentary response underscores that, despite these temporary hiccups, there are enough vaccine doses available overall.

A total of 14,200 doses were ordered for the 2023-2024 season, delivered in multiple phases. Nonetheless, initial demands from paediatricians appeared to surpass the available stock, necessitating a reallocation of vaccine reserves between maternity hospitals and paediatricians to avert a momentary shortage. In addition, limits were imposed on the number of vaccine doses that a paediatrician could request. However, paediatricians are now permitted to reorder vaccines.

RS virus infection can result in respiratory diseases, notably bronchiolitis. For children born from January to September, vaccination is administered at their paediatrician’s office. Conversely, for infants born between October of this year and January 2024, vaccination is both available and strongly recommended at the country’s maternity hospitals.
