Five weeks after the municipal elections, the last mayors and alderpeople were officially sworn in at the Ministry for Home Affairs on Tuesday.

Clervaux, Fischbach, Kayl, Koerich, Parc Hosingen, Préizerdaul, Sandweiler, Schuttrange, Strassen, and Vichten: Those were the towns whose elected top officials still had to be sworn in on Tuesday, close to five weeks after the municipal elections.

Since 11 June, no fewer than 98 mayors and 218 alderpeople have taken their oath of office at the Ministry. The ceremony is carefully planned, from the words that have to be uttered to the position that people should take for the subsequent photo.

Two of the mayors sworn-in on Tuesday, Jacqueline Breuer from Sandweiler and Georges Keipes form Clervaux, beat the incumbent mayors in their towns and recited the oath of office for a first time.

Minister for Home Affairs Taina Boffferding, who officiated the ceremony, described the local mandates as a noble mission requiring a lot of time, but also being diverse in nature.
