Luxembourg remains committed to participating in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in the future, Prime Minister and Minister for Media Luc Frieden announced on Thursday in the Chamber of Deputies. Responding to a question from Democratic Party (DP) MP Marc Hansen, Frieden emphasised the government's intention to continue sending Luxembourgish entries to the international competition.

Frieden highlighted that Eurovision offers a valuable opportunity to increase Luxembourg's visibility on the European stage and allows the country's music industry to showcase its talent abroad. Current discussions are underway with all parties involved in organising the Luxembourg Song Contest, and the Prime Minister stated that the focus for the next edition will be on ensuring the national cultural scene feels actively included.

"It is important to ensure that this truly gives a boost to Luxembourgish singers", Frieden said. He praised the excellent collaboration between RTL and Rockhal in running the selection process and announced his intention to propose government support for Luxembourg's participation again next year. According to Frieden, organisational, artistic, and financial questions still need to be resolved by the working group, but he is confident that a solution can be found.

Last week, Luxembourg's entry, "Mother Nature" performed by Eva Marija, failed to reach the Eurovision final. The 2024 edition marked the Grand Duchy's return to Eurovision after a 21-year absence, with the country finishing 13th in the semi-final this year after placing 22nd last year.
