InterviewADR in favour of vaccines but against mandate, says Sylvie Mischel

RTL Today
Sylvie Mischel, a politician from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR), joined our colleagues on RTL Radio for an interview on Monday morning.

Mischel, who is a member of the ADR’s executive committee and president of the party’s women’s fraction, was first asked about the recent complaint that MPs Fernand Kartheiser and Fred Keup filed against Tageblatt editor-in-chief Dr Dhiraj Sabharwal.

The politician underlined that ADR has always and will always stand up for the freedom the press, “more than any other party does”. Similarly, they believe in freedom of expression in the social media sphere and warn of using labels like “fake news” and “hate speech” to censor people.

However, in the case of Tageblatt’s editor-in-chief, his statements were not politically motivated in any way, but rather insulting on a personal level, which is ADR unanimously chose to launch a legal procedure, Mischel explained.

The politician was also asked about the incident where MP Roy Reding shared the phone number of a journalist in a messaging group of people opposing Covid measures. Mischel explained that her colleague already explained himself in front of the Chamber and that the sharing of the number was an honest mistake. She thus considers the case closed.

Talking about the Covid protests in the city, Mischel explained that there is a wide political spectrum of people who disagree with government measures. Nevertheless, demonstrations have to be registered and have to remain free of violence, which is why ADR officials have stopped supporting protests once they escalated.

Finally, Mischel also stressed that ADR is in favour of the vaccine, but against vaccine mandates.
