"Paräiser Plaz" and "Fort Niedergrünewald" are the new bike stations.
These two points brings the number of self-service bicycle stations spread across the city and in the neighboring municipalities of Hesperange, Bertrange and Strassen to a total of 99.
Since the introduction of the scheme in November 2018, the City of Luxembourg and JCDecaux have created a dense network as part of a multi-modal city plan.
vel'OH can now be found at the "Paräiser Plaz" (25 terminals) in the Gare district and the "Fort Niedergrünewald" station (20 terminals) at the intersection between rue du Fort Niedergrünewald and avenue John F. Kennedy.
The "Paräiser Plaz" station could not be installed until now due to the work carried out for the construction of the tramway as well as for the redevelopment of the Place de Paris. Now located in the rue Ste Zithe, in the immediate vicinity of a brand new Place de Paris, the station allows users to move in comfort between the Upper Town and the Place de Paris by taking the new cycle path on the avenue of Liberty.
The "Fort Niedergrünewald" point adds more choice on the Kirchberg plateau and makes it possible to pick up a bike along John F. Kennedy Avenue.
With nearly 100 stations and a fleet of around 900 electric-assisted bicycles, available seven days a week and 24 hours a day, velÓH aims to reduce city congestion.
The bike sharing system's subscriber numbers have grown steadily over the past three years, reaching nearly 18,000 long-term subscribers (as of April 2021).
