Following the knife attack in Ettelbruck last Friday, in which a 34-year-old man was left seriously injured, the Diekirch prosecutor's office has opened an investigation on suspicion of attempted murder or attempted manslaughter.

A 53-year-old man, who was located and apprehended in a nearby street the same day, is suspected of carrying out the stabbing. The victim appears to have been the curator who handled the alleged perpetrator's bankruptcy. The suspect is currently in pretrial detention.

The presumption of innocence applies until proven guilty.
