Statec published an update on Friday morning, stating there had not been a significant increase in bankruptcies last month. However, they did not rule out a rise in bankruptcies and liquidations due to the pandemic over the coming months.
In comparison, 125 bankruptcies were declared in February 2020 - some 55 more than the same time period this year.
However, February 2021 saw 16 more liquidations than the same month in 2020. The majority of these were declared within the commerce sector, as well as more specialised industries such as science and technology.
An increase of 68% was reported in 2020, compared to the two previous years. October 2020 saw an increase of 115% compared to October 2019.
