Ask Pauline Becker-Blasius how she is, and the answer comes back without a moment's hesitation: "Tiptopp, always happy".
Is that the secret to a long life? All her life she worked hard, she said, and had always been out in the sun with cheerful, pleasant customers.
She had had a wonderful, beautiful life, and still did today. Annette, her daughter, looked after her, she said, and all her needs are taken care of. Her nieces, too, all took good care of her.
Her other daughter, Angèle, died eight years ago. The rest of the family is made up of five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline Becker-Blasius was born in January 1919, five days before Grand Duchess Charlotte came to the throne. On Friday, she met Grand Duke Guillaume as part of the Joyeuse Entrée in Ehnen.
It was beautiful, she said. She thanked her municipality, praising the lovely occasion and the wonderful festivities.
This was not her first brush with the royal family, recalling one particular occasion where she saw Grand Duke Guillaume's great-grandmother when she came home from the war.
She stretched out her hand to her then, Becker-Blasius remembered, but the Grand Duchess did not manage to reach her.
As for the current Grand Ducal couple, Becker-Blasius said: "They are two very lovely people."
Another secret to being so fit at this age, in her view, is Crémant. She likes it very much, she said, and drinks some almost every day.
Sometimes even two glasses, and she felt all the better for it, she said, it was good for her health.
RTL wishes her all the best and continued good health for the years to come.
