This could mean anyone with a sore throat, headache or a cold, could be allowed to get tested for coronavirus.

On Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Health announced new recommendations for people exhibiting any symptoms relating to Covid-19.

To date, only patients showing severe symptoms such as breathing difficulties, cough and fever had been tested for coronavirus.

In addition, the Ministry recommends testing for anyone who has come into contact (for longer than 15 minutes and without protective clothing) with a person confirmed to have Covid-19.

Any fatalities from hospitals or retirement homes, who displayed symptoms prior to their passing, will also be tested as part of a post-mortem.

The revised recommendations are designed to assist research into the virus, as well as helping to restrict the spread.
