The Diplomat for a Day competition gives young women in Luxembourg a chance to experience diplomacy first-hand. Winners will spend a day with the British and Canadian Embassies, accompanying senior diplomats and embassy leaders to learn what international diplomacy looks like in practice. They will also join conversations and activities on international relations, leadership, and the importance of equal rights for women and girls.
The 2026 Diplomat for a Day programme will take place on 10 March 2026. Selected participants will meet and speak with ambassadors, politicians and local leaders, offering an unusual behind-the-scenes look at how diplomacy helps respond to challenges at both global and local level.
Besides meeting with top diplomats, last year’s participants also visited the RTL studios, where they learned how the media plays a role in diplomacy.

Through initiatives such as Diplomat for a Day, Canada and the United Kingdom underline their shared commitment to promoting gender equality and supporting women and girls to take part in leadership and decision-making in their communities and beyond.
