The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that minister Jean Asselborn has had to cancel a number of official meetings in Luxembourg and abroad.

The minister will not be taking part in meetings up until 16 June, as he has been hospitalised. The official statement confirmed that Asselborn is in the intensive care unit.

Upon inquiry, ministry representatives confirmed that Asselborn had been hospitalised after falling.

The injury caused a hematoma in Asseborn's back, requiring hospital treatment.

The minister will be unable to move much over the next ten days and has consequently cancelled any scheduled political engagements for that time.
