The market festival’s origins go back to the middle of the 19th century. The 31st edition of the Helpermaart market took place on Sunday.
In earlier times, the market was a farmers’ and catte market, but the tradition was renewed in 1989. Since 1989, the traditional market takes place on Whit Sunday and hosts an arts and crafts market, showcasing regional products over 75 different stands.
On the entertainment side, the Helpermaart had activities organised for children, involving animals, and had folk music groups perform throughout the day.
