Prime minister Xavier Bettel went to Austria on Thursday for a working visit.
During his visit Bettel notably met with the chancellor Sebastian Kurz. The two heads of state discussed several international and European politics related issues, including migration and Brexit. Austria holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union since 1 July 2018.
Bettel reminded his Austrian counterpart that his priority is European solidarity. At the same time, Bettel made a call for intercontinental solidarity, stating the importance of reinforcing ties between the European Union and Africa in the medium and long term. Specifically, Bettel advocated economic and developmental cooperation with the African continent.
The two countries also celebrated their close and amicable relations as many Luxembourgers are based in Austria and vice versa.
